I’m no stranger to lowered cars. They look great at a show (most of the time), and in some cases, handle better at the track. But in the real world, where roads are less than perfect, there is absolutely such a thing as a car that’s too low. I had my own personal Corvette at “show car height” for about a year, at which point the inner fender wells needed replacing because when I’d hit the canyons (about the only thing I ever use that car for), it would rub like crazy every time I hit a bump. I’ve since raised it a bit, still lower than stock but no more rubbing.
In this episode of Big Muscle, Mike Musto drives an absolutely gorgeous, period modified 1955 Thunderbird. The owner, Leni, says he has turned down offers of $225,000 for the car, a number I absolutely believe. Driving it, on the other hand, is more a chore than a joy. Grab a bottle of vodka and hit the jump for the video.
