Chevrolet has finally shown the new 2014 Silverado to the public, and from what we can see here at Red River Chevrolet, it looks to be another great truck!  As always, we will keep all of you up to date on the new 2014 Silverado here in Shreveport, LA and Bossier City, LA!

For starters, the new 2014 Chevy Silverado will feature 3 brand new engines, the EcoTec3 4.3L V6, a 5.3L V8 and a 6.2L V8 each which have been completely redesigned.  These will include the direct injection fuel systems, smaller combustion chamber that gives a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher, variable valve timing, cylinder deactivation and much more!  Fuel economy numbers have not been released yet, but GM is confident that they will beat the competition.

The 2014 Chevy Silverado itself features numerous enhancements.  The design of the 2014 Silverado is not only about looks, but also about function and aerodynamics.  The front end of the truck is designed to improve sealing for more efficient cooling, while the roof and tailgate spoiler were shaped to smooth airflow over the truck to help reduce drag.  The new flush-fitting doors help reduce wind noise in the cabin as well as to reduce drag to provide more efficiency.

The bed of the truck has also undergone some changes.  Chevrolet has added a corner step built in to the bumper combined with handholds built in the new box rail protectors to allow easier access into the bed of the truck.  The bed is also available with LED lighting under the bed rails to help while working at night.

For the first time Silverado 1500 Crew Cabs will be available with the longer 6’6” bed box, as well as the 5’8” bed box that is currently on the Silverado Crew Cab models.

The 2014 Silverado will feature the all new Chevrolet MyLink system which will help Silverado Customers utilize their smartphones while they are driving and provide a much more user friendly experience with the infotainment system in their vehicle.  The MyLink system brings voice recognition and numerous ports and power outlets to support multiple devices.

The cab in the Silverado is actually made stronger with nearly two-thirds of the structure made from high-strength steel to provide improved safety for the passengers.  Shear-style body mounts, hydraulic body mounts, and many other NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness) enhancements all help to reduce noise in the cab and make the new Silverado one of the quietest in the segment.

Some of the other features that the new 2014 Silverado will include is the segment exclusive Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning with an Active Safety Seat and Rear Park Assist.  The new Silverado will also include Stabilitrak with Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist.

The all-new 2014 Silverado has numerous upgrades and improvements, too many for me to mention all of them here, but to learn more, check out the video of the unveil below.
