(Before It's News)

German car major Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the 2014 E-Class facelift.  It is not  just a mid-life revision but it’s a whole new E-Class as a it gets significant styling changes, improved engines, more standard equipment and several extra hi-tech features. The most important design change can be seen at the front, where the traditional quad headlamp has been replaced by a one-piece assembly lamps, which have been complimentedby  LED Day Running Lights as standard. However, the front grille still boasts the traditional design with a little changes giving it a sportier appearance. After headlamps the new sporty bumper makes it more elegant and with it the air-bumper has also been modified.

There are several safety changes in the new Mercedes Benz E-Class as well. This includes the addition of the new ‘intelligent drive’ Collision Prevention Assist that has the ability to apply the car brakes upon sensing a collision. Also added to the E-Class is the Attention Assist system that is now a standard  on all models. Attention assist will read driver patterns to inform the driver of fatigue and drowsiness levels. Also included in the safety package are Steering Assist, Brake Assist Plus, Junction Assist, etc.

The taillights have been remained in the same shape as before but they have received a new LED design this time. The rear bumper has also undergone some changes for this facelift. Depending on the market, the 2014 E-Class is available in diffrent versions. The lineup starts with the E200 that has a turbocharged 2.0-liter producing 181bhp or 208bhp in the E250. The more frugal E200 CDI has a 4-cylinder, 2.1-liter turbodiesel unit with 134bhp. The same engine powers the E220 CDI where it’s tuned to output 168bhp, while in the E250 CDI it churns 201bhp. There are also BlueTec versions of the E250, E300 Hybrid and E350. The regular E350 gets a V6 3.5-liter engine generating 302bhp, while the E400 Hybrid has the same V6 engine but with an electric motor developing an additional 27bhp. The E550 makes use of a V8 5.5-liter engine developing 402bhp. The flagship E63 AMG is scheduled to come out next fall and will be slightly more powerful than the current 518bhp version with its twin-turbo V8 5.5.

In India, we will get the new E-Class in a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit with 2 tuned states. We also have 2 diesel options planned out. One is a 2.1-litre, 4-cylinder diesel mill and the other is a 3.0-litre V6 mill. Both the engines will be in various states of tuning for increased performance. The facelifted E-Class can be expected to reach India by late 2013.
