BMW is issuing a recall on approximately 29,800 of its 2008-2012 X5 diesel models due to the possibility of an issue that could cause sudden power steering loss.
BMW has stated that it will begin notifying owners of the affected vehicles in January 2013. The apparent problem at hand with the X5 diesel models is a faulty idler pulley bolt which could break, resulting in immediate loss of power steering and could also cause a crash. The affected X5 diesel models were manufactured between September 1, 2008 and November 15, 2012. If you have any questions about your X5 you can contact BMW directly at 1-800-525-7417.
