(Before It's News)

German automaker Volkswagen has launched the CNG versions of its compact hatch Volkswagen Up; called Eco Up, which is also lined up for a launch in India soon. Volkswagen launched a modified version of its small hatchback. The car has got two CNG tanks with a total capacity of 72-litres, along with a 10-litre reserve petrol tank for backup. The car is continued to be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine line earlier and VW claimed that it will provide an astonishing mileage of 34.5 km/kg. The Eco Up! Engine, despite its coversion to CNG, can generate a healthy 67bhp along with a peak torque of 90Nm. The car is priced at Rs. 9.09 lakh in Germany.

As we already said that the car has been lined up for Indian launch, nothing has been said for Eco Up’s Indian entry, but Volkswagen might want to consider this option. India’s love for frugal rides isn’t new and Indians love cheaper fuel options as well and a car like Volkswagen Eco Up might be a chart topper.
