I have a love/hate relationship with the Mazdaspeed3. On the one hand, the first generation cars are good-looking, well balanced, and aside from the pesky torque steer issue, quite a lot of fun to drive. The second-generation cars, which we did a one-take with earlier this year, got really ugly, but are otherwise, pretty much the same.
The torque steer issue really is the big one, as putting 263 HP to the front wheels from the factory is quite a lot if the car isn’t sorted for it. So what happens when you nearly double that figure? Let’s find out.
