(Before It's News)

The Carleton College Weitz Center for Creativity Auditorium will be filled with the sights and sounds of traditional Hula April 7.

Members of Halau Kiawekupono O Ka Ua, a male dance troupe from O’ahu, Hawaii, will present a free evening of authentic Hula at 7:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public. Tickets can be reserved online at Carleton.tixato.com.

The Weitz Center for Creativity is located at 320 Third Street East in Northfield, Minnesota.

Also on April 7, join Kuma Hula Dietrix Jon Ulukoa Duhaylonsod, leader of the dance troupe, for a free master dance class in room 165 of the Weitz Center from 10 a.m. to noon.

“It is my firm commitment to continue perpetuating the traditional knowledge that has been passed down to me in two ways. The first way is to mold our generation of cultural practitioners to preserve these oral traditions for our posterity. May the stories of our history and our home never be erased,” he said in a press release announcing the event. “And secondly, we gladly share our traditions with other peoples of the world through cultural exchanges in the spirit of good will. The love of self must be coupled with genuine appreciation of others for it to be a healthy, fruitful love.”
