A Red Earth First Nation resident is dead after a single vehicle crash on a Saskatchewan reserve yesterday.
Emergency services arrived at a crash scene on the Red Earth First Nation around 6:30 a.m.
Mounties say a Chrysler Sebring entered a body of water and a female passenger was entrapped. The vehicle remained upright but was partially submerged.
The 36-year-old woman was taken to the Nipawin Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name is not being released.
The male driver of the vehicle was first taken to Nipawin and then airlifted to a Saskatoon hospital with serious injuries.
An RCMP traffic reconstructionist attended the scene and alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash.
Charges have not been formally laid but the investigation continues.
The Red Earth First Nation is approximately 290 km northeast of Saskatoon.
