JOHNNY DEPP AND WOUNDED KNEE
By now everyone is pretty much aware Johnny Depp isn’t Tonto, nor at least in my opinion able to pull the role off.
Depp’s made some good movies and created memorable characterizations-this however wasn’t one of them, and a role he should have turned down.
Another role he should sidestep is that of land procurer, specifically that of any part of land pertaining to Wound Knee-or more appropriately Wounded Knee 2.
He needs to do the homework, maybe even talk to the family of Ray Robinson before going any further and ask himself exactly how sacred is that ground to Crow Dog and AIM?
Are the unmarked graves of their victims sacred? Do they see him as the “actor” Crow Dog spoke of in the blog Crow Dog and The Grave Diggers who will unwittingly facilitate the crimes of murder they committed?
If Depp has that has that kind of “disposable income” he’s willing to spend for the nations there are literally dozens of avenues to do so -assisting AIM in any manner is another role like that of Tonto that won’t end well.
I’m not attempting to join the “pile on Depp” movement some are apparently taking-what I am suggesting is that effort be made to insure Depp knows all the particulars.
Depp like all actors has an agent and a publicist, better I think to send an email to either or both explaining the reality.
The choice is entirely his-the effort should be to insure he has the information and ability to arrive at an informed one.
