(N.Morgan) One of the purest, truest, statements, I’ve heard in a very long time. The victims families are entitled to their anger. They are entitled to be heard. Listen to their words-
Ian Ki’laas Caplette : What pisses me off most about today is that I have seen survivors being shamed for their anger. Their anger born from kidnapping, imprisonment, torture, and all manner of indignities forced upon them. Fuck you for your shaming of righteous anger and your attempt to force survivors into a passive acceptance of “healing” under your version of it. These people have a right to their anger. If anyone does, it is them and if you can’t handle it, shut the fuck up.
Denise Pictou Maloney: We’lalin for this Ian. After decades of being told by more than a few advocacy groups and their supporters that I was too angry, bitter, hateful and diversionary over the fact that AIM members acting on AIM leadership orders ( which also included Peltier along the way) had kidnapped, interrogated, beat, raped, shot, and dumped my mothers body in the SD badlands to rot in 1975, this is a refreshing unconditional truth to read. After 16 years of campaigning for her justice one of the most disheartening things is to be told was that I needed to forgive, forget, heal and move on while my mothers murderers claimed advocacy for missing and murdered women.
What a crock of crap ! Stay united at all costs they suggested. I for one will NEVER unite with those who turn a blind eye to those who were complicit in the murder of one of our own women. When did justice become conditional with us? As the surviving family member of one who did not get to be a survivor and who lost their life to such a violent act from within their own community what justice allows some to be angry and others not ? Instead we are called fed, FBI pawn and diversionary. To add insult to injury I had one critic try to explain Lateral Violence as the reason these men did this to my mother so it was not their fault really..lmao Thank You for clarifying the REAL definition of lateral violence and with your words giving us ownership to express our suffering and pain.
