(Before It's News)

(1888 PressRelease) New version of disk space management software for Windows released: TreeSize v6 offers improved file search and filter management as well as faster scans.

German company JAM Software releases version 6 of disk space manager TreeSize.

The optimized version 6 of the disk space manager TreeSize for Windows comes with big improvements: Scans – e.g. for occupied disk space, single files, or duplicate data – run up to five times faster. The Treves-based company JAM Software has greatly improved their most successful software in the latest release. JAM Software’s products are used by 80 percent of the top 100 international companies.

“In TreeSize version 6 we optimized existing functions and added many new features. Some of them were inspired by feedback from our customers, others were the result of our own research and development” says Joachim Marder, CEO of JAM Software and lead developer of TreeSize. “The new version is faster, its user interface is much more intuitive, and – last but not least – it is much more flexible than its predecessors.”

The TreeSize File Search profits from improved search filters. Queries can now be created even more precisely. The integrated preview facilitates easy filter creation and management. Once set, filters can be applied to or excluded from single scans, e.g. the duplicate file search. TreeSize 6 recognizes simple placeholders as well as complex patterns (regular expressions).

TreeSize enables users to monitor the development of disk space usage over longer periods of time. Images of allocated disk space at a certain point in time (“snapshots”) are compared to the current state. Since Windows creates those snapshots automatically in regular intervals, users can access information on disk space usage prior to the installation of TreeSize. “This snapshot comparison is a unique feature of our disk space management software”, states Joachim Marder.

Another improvement: the revised HTML export. TreeSize displays an expandable tree view of the scan results in any standard web browser.

The newly designed user interface in the well-known Microsoft Ribbon look ensures ease of use.

The biggest improvement works in the background: On local NTFS drives, TreeSize utilizes the Master File Table (MFT) containing metadata on all files. This way, TreeSize gains fast access to information on the size of all files – scans can be completed up to five times faster than in preceding versions.

TreeSize Professional is now available as a 64-Bit version – system memory will never pose a restriction, not even on the largest server systems.

A fully functional trial version of TreeSize Professional v6 can be tested free of charge for 30 days. More information: www.jam-software.com/treesize/.
