Dancers

Haudenosaunee singers and dancers got most of those attending the Teach-In to join in for great dancing.

The Teach-In this past weekend in Brooklyn was a great success.  About 150 people participated — listening to powerful keynote talks by Freida Jacques and Tom Porter, joining in Haudenosaunee Social Dancing, participating in workshops and presentations and sharing with one another. The energy to continue moving forward was in the air. Keep an eye out for additional videos and photo online. You can watch Freida Jacques’ brief talk here.

Two days later, Guswenta was shown in Albany followed by a panel discussion including Hickory Edwards, Gwendolen Cates, Don Rittner and Denise Watso. The theater was nearly full, the film was very well received and the discussion was productive. We continue looking for additional places to show the film. If you’re interested in scheduling a showing in your community, contact Andy.

The Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign is a partnership between the Onondaga Nation and Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON), developing a broad alliance between the Haudenosaunee and their allies in New York and throughout the world. Our 2013 statewide advocacy and educational campaign seeks to achieve justice by polishing the chain of friendship established in the first treaty between the Haudenosaunee and Dutch immigrants. Environmental cleanup and preservation are the core components of our campaign.
