The Obama governments “State Secrets”

(Before It's News)

The Obama government has been using the “state secrets” privilege to effectively stifle real, open courts. The Bush warrantless wiretapping program was never discussed in court. Neither was Anwar Awlaki’s killing.

Anwar Awlaki’s killing is a great example: Obama put him on a kill list, but the decision was secret, the evidence was secret, and even the existence of the list was supposed to be a secret until someone leaked it.

To make matters even more ridiculous, Barack Obama went on Dave Letterman’s late night show and bragged about killing Anwar Awlaki. The ACLU challenged the killing in court, and the CIA said “this is confidential, we cannot confirm the existence of this program, therefore it cannot be challenged in court.” The ACLU even offered to have a trial based solely on publicly available information (of which there is plenty) and the court still refused to hear the case.

Or what about the case of Wikileaks? The government pressured Mastercard, Visa, Paypal, Amazon, and Bank of America into refusing to process payments for wikileaks. That is essentially a financial death penalty for an organization that was never charged with or convicted of a crime. They must have broken a secret law and been convicted in a secret court.

-The Obama Department of Justice has initiated a grand jury investigation against wikileaks. -The DOJ subpoenaed Twitter records of Wikileaks volunteers -The FBI has been harassing individuals associated with Wikileaks, interrogating them about Julian Assange -Wikileaks volunteers have been detained at airports and searched -Mastercard, Paypal, Visa, Amazon, and Bank of America all declined to process payments for Wikileaks -Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein has publicly called for Assange’s prosecution for espionage -Obama has been relentless in prosecuting whistleblowers, prosecuting more than all other presidents combined.

As Glenn Greenwald said:
He has always been willing to face these accusations. The issue has always been that because he’s not charged, there’s been this extraordinary and unusual effort to get him onto Swedish soil, and the fear has always been that that is just a pretext for turning him over to the United States, something that Britain would have a very hard time doing for a variety of reasons, but that Sweden, as they’ve proven, can be coerced and bullied and pressured into doing fairly easily. And once he’s in the grip of the United States, it’s really hard to imagine how he will ever secure his freedom or liberty again, given what the United States has demonstrated it’s willing to do in terms of flouting conventions of justice and other things when it comes to people accused of harming national security.

He did not commit any crime, nor was he ever charged with one. Have you ever heard of Daniel Ellsberg? The Pentagon Papers? The New York Times? They were all charged by the government in the wake of the Pentagon Papers, but the Supreme Court ruled that publishing classified documents is not a crime. It is protected speech.
Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government. And paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people and sending them off to distant lands to die of foreign fevers and foreign shot and shell. —Justice Black
Remember that the New York Times is just as guilty as Wikileaks and Julian Assange. Neither entity leaked the documents, they merely published them. In fact, the New York Times has published Top Secret documents, while Wikileaks has merely published Secret or Noforn documents.

Also, the Brits are currently spending $1 million a day and have 30 cops surrounding the embassy of a man who wasn’t even charged with a crime. Someone from the Libyan embassy once shot and killed a British police officer and they didn’t do anything. They had Augusto Pinochet and they didn’t extradite him. Yet they are willing to spare no expense to make sure Julian Assange… reports for questioning on allegations of a broken condom for which no charges have been filed.

The Pentagon admits to 34 deaths caused by torture, we have counted over 100.

Pentagon admits to holding 8 children agaes 12-17 at Gitmo, we count 21.

The Senate passed S. Amdt. 1157 to H.R. 2346 a bill that provides supplementary military spending for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Amendment 1157, entitled the Censorship of Photographs of Future Torture Amendment, creates a loophole in the Freedom of Information Act. With this loophole, the Secretary of Defense is granted the power to conceal photographs of any torture of prisoners whether those photographs were taken in the past, or will be taken in the future.

Fact: this amendment was approved unanimously.

This legislation marks the end of the Democrats’ claim of opposition to torture.

Pres. Barack Obama has condoned TORTURE

President Barack Obama says he will:

keep in place the secret rendition program Bush used to torture detainees;

keep the government spying on citizens;

deploy nuclear carriers with enough firepower to annihilate any country in the region;

send 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan;

refuse to investigate & prosecute the war and torture crimes of the Bush regime.

The Uniform Code of Military justice prohibits U.S. Armed Forces from engaging in cruelty, oppression or maltreatment of prisoners, assaulting prisoners and communicating a threat to wrongfully injure a detainee.

Prisoners are held in isolation and secrecy, locked into a system of punishment before any evidence of guilt is established. These techniques, born in the gulag, only elicit false confessions, not actionable intelligence.

What’s worse than a TERRORIST?

a TYRANT

Tyranny of the people does NOT happen violently or suddenly. Tyranny is gradual and silent. President Obama says America does NOT torture. THIS IS A LIE. We were told that Enhanced Interrogation Techniques were only used on 3 high level terrorist. We were told that the worst was WATERBOARDING. These are all lies designed to protect the GUILTY.

We were told that the prisoner abuse in Iraq was an aberration, not systematic. THIS IS A LIE.

Tyranny is the complete absence of limits of government.

As things stand now Pres. Obama and every President thereafter has the authority to deem anyone whether they are a U.S. citizen or not

a TERRORIST.

And to kidnap, detain without charges, deny bail, trial, legal reps and TORTURE anyone.

It does us NO good to write to our Representatives in Washington. Voting ensures the continuation of one corrupt party or the other. We’ve thrown out the whole top tier of government, But the crooks & thugs are still there. Still in power, as brutal as ever!!
