The Obama administration has announced plans to close nine Border Patrol stations across four states.
A move by the Obama administration to close nine Border Patrol stations over four states has spurred outrage from local officials, members of Congress — even Border Patrol agents.
National Border Patrol Council President George McCubbin said "I think it's a major mistake to deactivate these stations," said McCubbin. "If we're going to go along the lines that the border is more secure than it's been, now is not the time to let up."
"It sends the wrong message," said McCubbin. "The folks that continue to commit those types of crimes are going to understand now that it's a wide-open area."
In an election-year policy change, the Obama administration said Friday June 15th, it will stop deporting young illegal immigrants who entered the United States as children if they meet certain requirements. The shift on the politically volatile issue of immigration policy prompted immediate praise from Latino leaders who have criticized Congress and the White House for inaction.
The more illegal immigrants Obama can attract in the next 119 days before elections, the more Latino vote he will secure.
Pedro Ramirez, a student who has campaigned for such a move, said he was "definitely speechless," then added: "It's great news."
Although U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement is said to take over duties, McCubbin said ICE has not increased their staff levels adequately and cannot meet the demand to fight the amount of existing influx of illegal immigrants with local authorities.
McCubbin said "People who live in the communities north of the border understand it's a lot bigger problem than that and it just doesn't make any sense for us to close those stations.".
But Obama's minions say. “These deactivations are consistent with the strategic goal of securing America’s borders, and our objective of increasing and sustaining the certainty of arrest of those trying to enter our country illegally,” CBP spokesman Bill Brooks said."
But the move is already causing panic among local law enforcement agencies, Border Patrol agents and members of Congress, FoxNews.com reports:
Critics of the move warn the closures will undercut efforts to intercept drug and human traffickers in well-traveled corridors north of the U.S.-Mexico border. Though the affected stations are scattered throughout northern and central Texas, and three other states, the coverage areas still see plenty of illegal immigrant activity — one soon-to-be-shuttered station in Amarillo, Texas, is right in the middle of the I-40 corridor; another in Riverside, Calif., is outside Los Angeles.
But at least one Border Patrol supervisor in Texas has called on local officers to “voice your concerns” to elected officials, warning that the “deactivation” will remove agents from the Texas Panhandle, among other places. Several members of Congress have asked Border Patrol Chief Michael Fisher to reconsider the plan. And local officials are getting worried about what will happen once the Border Patrol leaves town, since they rely on those federal officials to assist in making immigration arrests.
“It could impact us tremendously since we’ve only got two agents up here now for 26 counties,” Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas told FoxNews.com.
These action are outrageous and so blatant in an election year. Obama may as well say. America you're so stupid, I can do anything I want to do and there is nothing you can do about it!
The move comes shortly after President Obama announced his new immigration policy that would halt the deportation of young illegal immigrations who came to the U.S. as children and who are not criminals. Then, the Supreme Court dealt another blow to advocates of stricter immigration enforcement and threw out parts of Arizona’s controversial immigration law.
Remember the Quote, "It's The Right Thing To Do" ?
And shortly after that, the Obama administration also announced a unilateral decision to end program 287(g), which allowed local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration law without the feds. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are now ordered to be selective in responding to calls from the border and may only respond if the illegal immigration has committed a felony.
America you have been HAD!
Exactly what will it take before Americans stand up for themselves and their country??
Obama has made a mockery out of all of you!
THIS IS A STATEMENT FROM ONE OF MY FB FRIENDS. Leslie Goss
I don’t believe he’s doing it for the Mexicans. Obama is making sure his Muslim buddies get in.
Of the illegals captured along the Mexican borders between October 1, 2010 thru September 30, 2011, 46,997 were listed as ‘other than Mexican’. Among the ‘other than Mexican’ were people from countries listed as ‘special interest countries’ such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Somalia, Tunisia, Syria, Uzbekistan, Jordan and Indonesia.
They have to do two things:
1-subdue naive Americans that don’t agree and
2-create enough chaos that they can justify foreign troops
All this stuff with foreign troops all over the country that you are seeing is getting the military used to working with them and us used to seeing them….we are being conditioned to accept it.
that’s where it’s going. They will make it so bad that many will accept this as something to grab onto in a time of utter despair.
Remember their motto–make a crises then use it to grab power from the people….like the Euro and EU.
most people don’t see enough data and think about it enough.
but it’s all out there for a reasonable intelligent person to ascertain.
Why all the military.
Why the open border.
Why are terrorist connected people getting visas.
Why all the attention to UN actions collectively.
Why did Panetta say they consult with appropriate International bodies for war rather than Congress.
It’s all in plain sight.
Why all the late Friday Exec orders take over this and that.
