George W Bush started us on the road to destabilization of the middle east. Barack Obama is continuing this idiotic policy. The end result is unknown, but staying out of the middle east entirely would have been the best option for America.
The dictators of the middle east were and are bad guys. But, the nations do not have a history of democracy. Democracy was an afterthought and excuse for going into the middle east for oil and to destabize Israel’s enemies.
Turns out, we opened a can of worms in Egypt, when the Morsi Muslim government decided to change the constitution, to scrap the secular stability of Egypt.
The most stable governments in the world are democratic and secular governments. The second most stable governments are dictatorial but secular governments. The least stable governments, as history shows, are the religious fanatical governments that led to crusades, inquisitions and the like. In the Arab world those types of governments are dangerous in our time. The more that Iran and Israel can become secular in outlook the more stable they will be.
No one is asking any of these people to shun their religious beliefs. All we ask is that they run their governments without the religious passion that causes harm and destruction to the enemy for no practical reason. Pragmatism is a word that is more important than democracy is.
With the advent of Syrian atrocities, real or false flagged, it is necessary for the United States to pause and not be pushed into a war that could be complicated by Russian interests in the region. This all smacks of war profiteering and that could spiral out of control with needless deaths. No one cares about the soldiers or their mothers, only about making money by the use of war.
That is why Obama needs to pause here. We know he does not want to invade Iran, but the weakening of the Russian block of countries can only result in the Iranians being pushed against the wall. They could use the trump card of closing the Strait of Hormuz, and that would significantly hurt the US economy. And that pain could be terminal for our nation.
As a nation we just need to decide to stay out of the middle east or we will throw ourselves onto our own swords. It just isn’t worth the pain.
