Only 8 Senators refused to participate in the obscene last minute vote on a 154-page bill known as the fiscal cliff legislation. Republican Senators who voted against the legislation are Shelby (AL), Rubio (FL), Grassley (IA), Paul (KY), Lee (UT). Kirk (IL) – did not vote, DeMint (SC) – did not vote. Democrats Bennet (CO) and Carper (DE) also voted against. The U.S. House 2010 Pledge to America to put all bills online was trashed again.
Multiple Senate sources have confirmed to CNSNews.com that senators received the bill at approximately 1:36 AM on Jan. 1, 2013 – a mere three minutes before they voted to approve it at 1:39 AM.
The bill is 154-pages and includes several provisions that are unrelated to the fiscal cliff, including repealing a section of ObamaCare, extending the wind-energy tax credit, and a rum tax subsidy deal for Puerto Rican rum makers. Source: CNS News
That’s the world’s most distinguished deliberative body at work, folks, with someone in the Senate finding the time to extend significant tax breaks to Hollywood, rum producers, electric scooters (not those for the disable – medical devices were heavily taxed in ObamaCare), NASCAR and algae and asparagus growers.
Remember the Republican Pledge to America to post all bills online for 3 days before voting?
“We will ensure that bills are debated and discussed in the public square by publishing the text online for at least three days before coming up for a vote in the House of Representatives,” said the Pledge to America. “No more hiding legislative language from the minority party, opponents, and the public. Legislation should be understood by all interested parties before it is voted on.” Source: CNS News
