Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today said in an interview with NewMax she plans to endorse common-sense conservatives every election cycle, especially women. Gov. Palin said she only endorses candidates who request it.
Gov. Palin told NewsMax’s Todd Beamon she does not see women as “novelties,” and said “women have been leaders since ancient times.”
From Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Elizabeth I of England, Catherine the Great — right on down to Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, and Angela Merkel.
“We’re half of the human race. I’ve raised my own daughters to know that they can do anything. There are no barriers they can’t overcome as women.
“Many strong women have blazed those trails before us. I honestly don’t consider gender in looking for public servants.”
But, Gov. Palin acknowledged that women must work harder than men and prove themselves. “That’s what makes us tougher than men.”
Gov. Palin said she wants a candidate to have a steel spine, integrity, intelligence and a track record of taking on the establishment elites. While Gov. Palin will back long-shots, just having the conservative ideals is not sufficient. “They have to be a good candidate who has it together and can run a credible campaign,” she said. Gov. Palin cited Ted Cruz as her example noting he was a strong candidate who just needed a bigger microphone and a boost from her.
She said the “Mamma Grizzly effect” was a force to be reckoned with in 2010 and is the reason why Democrats are trafficking in the “war on women.” Democrats could no longer take women for granted, she said.
For Republicans to win, Gov. Palin said they must not speak down to women, Reagan Democrats or blue-collar works. She advised against pandering, as voters can spot a phony a mile away.
Beamon asked Gov. Palin about her advice to voters during the low-turnout midterms. She said voters need to get involved, and stay energized. “If you don’t vote, you can’t complain,” she concluded.
