Fast Tracking Non-English Speakers to Disability, Because They are Non-English Speakers
You probably think having a disability means something like having a bad back or neck, a crippling

disease, a catastrophic disease, or a mental illness, but no, a “little known” Social Security “loophole” can put a non-English speaker on a “fast track” to receiving a disability check, courtesy of American English speakers; “fast track” meaning non-English speakers get disability payments before you, an honestly disabled person will get. I want to shout STOP IT! We demand it stop! No more funding!
I want to know who wrote the portion of the law that allowed this to happen, or who allowed the loophole by omission, and how long this has been happening. Senator Sessions, please investigate and answer those questions. Put it in the press for everyone to see. Please!
Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) sent a letter obtained exclusively by the Free Beacon to Acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration Carolyn Colvin on Thursday, raising concerns regarding revelations that individuals who cannot speak English are fast-tracked for disability approval.
“I write to express my concerns about the expanding number of individuals now qualified for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and to raise a specific issue, the basis for many of these individuals’ disability classification, where the inability to speak English is a determinative factor,” Sessions said.
Sessions revealed a policy for SSDI payments that allows individuals to qualify for benefits more quickly if “they are incapable of communicating in English.”
The Social Security Act allows for the consideration of education when deciding if an individual is disabled. “The education factor is not limited to actual education as it relates to schooling, but includes a linguistic limitation on the ability to communicate in the English language,” Sessions said. I thank Senator Sessions for expressing concern, but the problem isn’t the “expanding” disability rolls, but the fact that people are on the rolls who shouldn’t be on the rolls. Good grief, is there no way to oversee the taxpayer’s money? I guarantee, not a thing will change in this ‘policy.’ News today, off the radar tomorrow.
