Republican Mark Callahan is a candidate for the U.S. Senate from Oregon. He took exception to “Pulitzer Prize” winner Nigel Jaquiss writing “blah blah blah blah blah” on a notepad as candidate Joe Rae Perkins was doing a phone interview. “Willamette Week” was conducting an “endorsement interview.” They didn’t like his answer about “global warming.” The endorsement went to a Democrat. He was right that there was no respect for him or Ms. Perkins in that room. How much respect does Callahan have for republicanism?
Callahan interrupted to complain that reporter Nigel Jaquiss had written “blah blah blah blah blah” in his notepad after a lengthy answer from Perkins. He called it “disrespectful” of Perkins. He then was warned to be respectful himself.
After Callahan said that he considers global warming to be a “myth,” he was asked by Jaquiss: “Where do you stand on the Easter bunny?”
“Really?” Callahan said, later calling the question “childish.” Source: Willamette Week
Here is Callahan’s comment that most are not bothering to print:
Why are you writing down ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ for everything that Joe Rae said? And Joe Rae is a respectable woman. Why are you not respecting her by writing blah blah blah blah blah on your notepad?
He is told by someone, “Mark, we’re going to move on and if you answer respectfully, we might be willing…
Callahan says:
“You have to give respect in order to get respect. Right now, on that side of the table, you’re not giving very much respect to the five of us and our time here…Joe Rae was giving a very detailed and descriptive answer.”
After he was asked whether climate change was “a myth or reality” and he answered “it’s a myth,” he is asked: “where are you on the Easter Bunny?”
Callahan asks that they ask a “serious and respectful question” instead of a “childish” question.
He’s told he has two strikes against him, to which he asks “Who do you think you are?” That was three strikes, and they told him to leave. Another reporter said “There’s the door.”
This is the first time I’ve heard Callahan’s name. He is considered a TEA Party candidate. Take a look at this:
But Callahan was himself put on the firing line this week when Republican blogger Bruce McCain, an attorney and former Multnomah County sheriff’s captain, posted an article excoriating Callahan.
McCain ran through Callahan’s history as a candidate for various offices under the Democratic and Pacific Green Party banners as well as a quixotic race for president — as a Republican — in 2012. On top of that McCain noted that Callahan filed for bankruptcy last year and had a picture on his campaign website featuring him with his wife, and their two children, even though the couple divorced in 2013. Read more, and there is more.
Callahan’s ex-wife is supporting him.
