More Obamedia reticence on a story that they desperately do not want to truthfully tell:

A man shot a uniformed sheriff’s deputy “execution-style” while he fueled his patrol car in the Houston area, killing him instantly, authorities said…

The gunman walked up from behind him and opened fire for no apparent reason, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said.

When Goforth fell to the ground, the gunman stood over him and shot him some more, authorities said. He died at the scene.

“He was literally gunned down in what appears to be an unprovoked, execution-style killing,” Hickman said. “I have been in law enforcement for forty-five years, I have never seen anything this cold-blooded.” [emphases added]

A horrific atrocity, to be sure.  But not all that particularly nationally newsworthy other than as more grist for the gun confiscators.

Until you arrive at this paragraph:

Bob Goerlitz, president of the Harris County Deputies Organization, called the [incident] “shocking.”

“We’ve been warned of things like this, because of public sentiment nationally and events over the last few years,” he said. “It’s just horrific. That’s the only way to describe it.” [emphasis added]

Well, now, there's some helpful and much-needed context through which to discern possible motives for his gangland-style murder.

Dig long enough through enough media sources, and you finally hit paydirt:

Police described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion, about 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts and driving a red or maroon pickup-style truck with an extended cab. [emphasis added]

Even the grainy, indistinct pic above makes it pretty obvious that the shooter is a black guy, and the video footage is equally clear that Deputy Goforth was white.  Additional descriptive details that I think we can safely conclude would have been all over this story if the racial identifiers had been reversed.

Jazz Shaw imagines how the lede should have been written:

A black man shot a white uniformed sheriff’s deputy “execution-style” while he fueled his patrol car in the Houston area, killing him instantly, authorities said…

The black gunman walked up from behind him and opened fire for no apparent reason, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said.

When Goforth, who is white, fell to the ground, the black gunman stood over him and shot him some more, authorities said. He died at the scene.

Only tweak I'd make to that re-write is the part about the black guy “opening fire for no apparent reason”.  The reason appears quite obvious, actually: Deputy Goforth was (1) a cop and (2) white.  What other reasons would the black gunman need?  You can call it, “What Micheal Brown tried and failed to do to Darren Wilson”.  Something tells me Deputy Goforth's grieving loved ones aren't going to see White House representatives showing up at his funeral.

FWIW, the black shooter didn't kill himself and has been captured and taken into custody.  Now we get to witness the national spectacle of Houston, Texas prosecutors being vilified as “racists” for daring to prosecute this carrier-out of “racial justice,” and Barack Obama saying something like, “Fortunately, Deputy Goforth died before he could 'act stupidly'” at a presser.

Well, he always did believe in “preemption,” after all.
