Christians Need to Push Back

If you are a Christian, you are under attack, and it doesn’t matter where you are in the world. But it wasn’t always this way.
The attacks on Christians (and Jews) have escalated over the past seven years, and that coincides with America’s election of a Muslim-loving, Christian and Jew-hating president.
Aided and abetted by Mainstream Media (MSM) and organizations such as the ACLU, the federal government is waging war on Christians through regulation and frivolous lawsuits to remove God from the lives of Christians.
The War on Christianity is also being waged locally in small towns no one ever heard of, like Bossier, Louisiana. As reported by NBC affiliate KSLA News 12 via NBC’S WECT 6 in North Carolina:
“Hundreds turned out for a prayer rally at Airline High School Saturday morning.
The event comes after the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana (ACLU) accused the Bossier City school of religious recruiting, claiming the school promoted prayer.
The state ACLU chapter claims the Bossier City school violated the First Amendment by putting out prayer boxes. KSLA News 12 is also told the principal is accused of using phrases like ‘God bless you.’”
This community pushed back. Hundreds gathered on the lawn and formed a circle and prayed. The crowd ranged from all spectrums of the community, from cheerleaders to law enforcement. They carried flags that read:
“The future starts today- May God Bless you all.“
The “prayer boxes” referred to by the ACLU were never actually put in the school. They were made by a student organization called the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A public interest law firm called Freedom Guard came to the school’s defense and is arguing that since the project was led by students, it is legal under the U.S. Constitution.
Last week nine people at a community college in Oregon were massacred, and we now know the real reason. When asked what their religion was by the shooter, the students answered, “Christian.”
In standard operating procedure for Obama, he couldn’t get to the podium fast enough to make, by his own admission, a political issue of gun control. Not once was there any mention of religious intolerance. However, if the shooter were white Christian and the victims Muslim, the narrative would not have necessarily been about guns, but instead about racism and religious persecution, and guns would have been a beautiful bonus.
As for Christians, we are not going around this country imposing our faith on others. We don’t have a “caliphate” that demands other religions capitulate or die. We don’t even have names for “non-believers” of our faith, like Muslims have for us, calling us “infidels.” Perhaps we need to give Muslims a name? How about “animals?”
Christians do not want to be forced to participate in activities that violate their religious conscience. Whether it’s baking a cake for or photographing a gay wedding, or giving marriage counseling to a gay couple, Christians want to be free to honor our covenant with God.
Dr. James Emory White sums up the situation very nicely in his web blog post from February 2012 on the devotional Christian site Crosswalk.com:
“What is happening in America is an increasing hostility and intolerance toward Christian beliefs and values that many perceive to be an attack on religious freedom. In current American culture, you are free to be a Christian as long as you don’t actually live out your faith, vote your faith, take a stand in relation to your faith, or believe others should embrace your faith.
In other words, it can be privately engaging, but must remain socially irrelevant.”
This past weekend, Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney was giving a live postgame interview on ESPN following his team’s 24-12 victory over Notre Dame when the cameras suddenly switched to ESPN commentators in the main studio. The camera cut away from Swinney immediately following his thanking “the good Lord” for the victory. Of course ESPN blamed it on an “error in TV transmission.” For those who are not aware, the sports division of MSM network ABC merged with ESPN.
I don’t buy their excuse. It’s perfectly consistent with the guerilla war being waged by the Left against Christianity. The MSM will cover whatever the Left wants them to and ignore what they don’t want. Leftist funded groups like the ACLU will target Christians economically with frivolous lawsuits.
As if that’s not enough, there’s always the federal government to put them in jail if they choose their own God over Obama.
