Dear Marriage Supporter,
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is a diverse grassroots organization, made up of individuals of all faiths, and no faith, men and women, ethnically diverse from every corner of America. The financial support of our members is the lifeblood of our organization. Without that support we simply cannot effectively undertake the hard work necessary to defend marriage, to fight to restore true marriage to our nation’s laws and to protect the religious liberty rights of Americans who believe in marriage.
This is why I am writing to urge you to renew your membership in NOM today.
I am asking you to consider a minimum membership contribution of $35. If you can renew your support at a higher level, I ask you to consider doing so.
2016 will be a pivotal year for the cause of marriage. We will be electing a new president who very likely will have the opportunity to appoint several new justices to the US Supreme Court, creating the possibility that the anti-constitutional, illegitimate decision redefining marriage could soon be reexamined by a newly-configured Supreme Court. It’s therefore imperative that we elect a pro-marriage champion this year.
We also will have a major battle in Congress to pass the First Amendment Defense Act, critical legislation needed to protect the civil rights of people to continue to support marriage in the daily lives and at work without fear of punishment or reprisal.
2016 is also the year that we need to invest in reinvigorating the grassroots with meaningful education and training. We are hard at work developing educational materials that will help grassroots supporters to be better informed about the issues and be able to participate in small group discussions about ways to restore true marriage in our culture.
But all these programs are dependent on members like you renewing their membership. Please act today to renew your membership for a minimum of $35 so that we can move full-speed ahead in support of the great cause of marriage.
Fundraising during this time of year is difficult for all nonprofit organizations, and NOM is no exception. Unfortunately, while we did very well during the 2015 year-end matching gift challenge, we did not hit our goal of raising $200,000. That means that we have less of a financial cushion going into this year than we had hoped, making it all the more important that every member step up to renew their membership.
I know that I can count on you to continue to stand with us in support of God’s design for marriage. Please act today to renew your membership for a minimum contribution of $35.
Faithfully,
