Stupid people will try to repeat it.
Today’s history lesson shows us that the socialist disease is in its final stages in Venezuela.
CARACAS, Venezuela—In a hospital in the far west of this beleaguered country, the economic crisis took a grim toll in the past week: Six infants died because there wasn’t enough medicine or functioning respirators.
Here in the capital, the crisis has turned ordinary life into an ordeal for nearly everyone. Chronic power outages have prompted the government to begin rationing electricity, darkening shopping malls. Homes and apartments regularly suffer water shortages.
Rosalba Castellano, 74 years old, spent hours this week in what has become a desperate routine for millions: waiting in long lines to buy whatever food is available. She walked away with just two liters of cooking oil.”
This is where every socialist society winds up. That lesson was not lost on Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher. They saw socialism for what it is – evil. There are people, though, who believe in socialism. Those people fall into a couple of categories. The first is those who want to be in control of a socialist economy. That is where the power is. You know that Maduro doesn’t want for anything.
The second group are the fools who believe stupid things. There is an entire structure that has been put in place to propagandize young people into believing in socialism. We see the results today on university campuses and in the streets. They are angry and demanding. They have been taught to refuse to hear opposing views.
The people of Venezuela, Ukraine, and a hundred other places could set them straight. But they will not listen. That is what is frightening.
