Today is the first day of 2017.  Last night I had the blessed opportunity to spend New Year's Eve with an inspirational group of folks.  Most of them were associated with the Salt and Light Council ministry, a Christian organization dedicated to defending biblical principles, and promoting constitutional philosophies from a godly perspective.  As we count down the final ten seconds to midnight, I was reminded that the eight years of Barack Obama as President are nearly over.
Donald Trump won the presidency, and will be inaugurated on January 20, but we must not elevate him as some kind of savior.  Yes, he was the better choice.  But that does not mean he is a perfect choice.  While we must rid ourselves of the damage caused by Obama, we also have to be diligent enough to make sure the new President of the United States is not detrimental to our system of liberty, either.

I found the following quotes that essentially say what I am thinking about the new presidency…

“The chief beauty about time
is that you cannot waste it in advance.
The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you,
as perfect, as unspoiled,
as if you had never wasted or misapplied
a single moment in all your life.
You can turn over a new leaf every hour
if you choose.”
Arnold Bennett

“Rather than turning the page, it's much easier to just throw the book away.”
Anthony Liccione

“Morning will come, it has no choice.”
Marty Rubin

“New Year – a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story ? Ultimately we write it. The choice is ours.”
Alex Morritt, Impromptu Scribe

Barack Obama could have been more damaging than he was.  While the conventional wisdom says the Tea Party has faded away, in reality it has changed, and infiltrated.  Hillary Clinton could have wound up in the White House.  We averted that by being active. . . but the left will not give up.  We fight a never-ending battle, a war that requires eternal vigilance on our part.
