The situation is grim if persons of color cannot escape racism even at a Tesla plant near San Francisco. Or is that smell yet another hate hoax?
A worker at the Tesla factory in Fremont is suing the electric car maker after he said he was a victim of racial discrimination and harassment from his co-workers.
DeWitt Lambert, a 44-year-old African-American, says he was “subjected to racial slurs and lewd behavior” from co-workers for more than a year including being called the n-word.
The n-word! The jackpot should be enough to make a leprechaun weep with envy. Good thing Tesla is so heavily subsidized with our taxes.
Tesla’s side of the story:
In a statement emailed to KPIX 5, the company said Lambert’s claim had been investigated.
“HR personnel investigated, interviewing all of the employees who were reportedly involved,” the statement said. “That investigation turned up conflicting accounts of what happened … In the end, there was no objective evidence that anything inappropriate occurred toward Dewitt.”
According to Tesla, the supposed racists are actually former friends who Lambert socialized with after work, using the same “racially insensitive language” that he later denounced them for using.
Lambert also whimpers that the coworkers he accuses of racism were promoted while he was not.
However,
“This is false,” the statement [reads]. “Dewitt was promoted 12 months ago, and the reason he wasn’t given a second promotion within 12 months is that, among other things, he had been given a final written warning for posting pictures of confidential Tesla technology on Facebook in clear violation of company policy.”
It is unclear whether expecting a Person of African Ancestry to comply with company policy also qualifies as racism according to the suit.
Lambert is suspended with full pay while Tesla investigates…
Given the infamously moonbatty politics of the Gay Area, chances are good that Lambert will collect no matter how lame his suit, so Tesla may pay him off. Even if they don’t, paid time off beats working. Also, he earned a spot on the Hate Hoax List. Attaboy, DeWitt!
