(Before It's News)

Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is sounding much like her Republican counterparts did in 2010, with her opposition to the failed “Trumpcare” healthcare measure.

In a recent fundraising ask to her constituents, Wasserman Schultz railed against the Republican “repeal and replace” House healthcare bill, saying that the American Health Care Act was nothing less than “morally wrong” and an example of Republican “cruelty at work.”

Wasserman Schultz is right. The Speaker Paul Ryan healthcare bill was a disaster in that it was a “Republican version of Obamacare.”

Wasserman Schultz also asserts that many Americans, like many of other Americans did when they opposed Obamacare, protested and marched to get President Trump to listen.

Again, Wasserman Schultz is right. Americans did come out in droves to oppose the AHCA, but many of those in opposition were actually opposing the Obamacare-light bill, and not the effort to repeal and replace Obamacare.

In response to the Trump administration’s reckless policies and authoritarian leanings, Americans have responded with resistance. We’re marching, protesting, dialing up representatives, and continuously working to make sure President Trump gets the message.

Trumpcare was morally wrong and a terrible plan from the start. You did not sit silently as President Trump and Paul Ryan tried to mercilessly strip health insurance from 24 million Americans. You spoke out for what is right. You resisted — and it worked.

President Trump and Paul Ryan’s brainchild was a classic example of GOP cruelty at work. Trumpcare was a massive tax break for the wealthy disguised as a health care bill. It costed more and provided less. It would have unfairly taxed older Americans, weakened the solvency of Medicare, gutted Medicaid, and been devastating to women’s health. In fact, it was estimated that twenty four million Americans would lose coverage over the next 10 years.”-Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D)
