A few months ago the Climb On! Products company signed up to join our affiliate program at Chicks. I went through the process of setting everything up on the website, and was intrigued with the testimonials of the classic Climb On! bar claims I had seen online. I decided I wanted to see if it really was as miraculous as I’d read, and took advantage of the ChicksClimbing discount to buy a couple of bars. IF YOU DIDN’T KNOW, ORDERING ANY OF THE SELECT FOUR CLIMB ON! PRODUCTS IN THE CHICKS’ “GO SHOPPING” SECTION WITH THE “CHICKSCLIMBING” CODE WILL SAVE YOU 10%!!!
Now, as some of you know, I am a regular CrossFitter. I also have major sissy hands, which rip on a pretty regular basis. So I knew I would have ample opportunity to put the Climb On! classic bar to the test even during ice climbing season.
And, I have put my bars to good use, primarily through ripping hands at CrossFit, and with some Indian Creek burns, too.
Given my experience with the Climb On! classic bar, I can say it is simply awesome. It really and truly does help heal those kinds of skin abrasions and full-on flappers/rips *days* faster than my previous regimen. [My previous regimen was to apply Neosporin on the first day (keeping it open to the air) before applying a cow-udder cream (again keeping it open to the air) for the remaining 6+ days until it was fully healed.]
And, since I hate taking time off for stupid things like rips, the the Climb On! classic bar has been great. Within 24 hours of tearing skin significant healing takes place – to the point where I can do most activities on a bar or barbell with just a layer of tape covering the fresh wound with little to no pain. It has literally proven to be a life changer for me! (Remember, I have sissy hands.)
The bar has a nice smell, kind of fresh, but came with a sample size of a much more perfumed scent that I’m glad my big bars didn’t have!
The only negative thing I can say is that the bar is very hard, so when the rip is fresh, it is quite painful to press hard on the wound with the bar to get some of it to come off – because you have to rub it quite hard. Usually after a few applications the area is de-sensitized to the pain and it isn’t a problem.
However, that negative is kind of a positive.
How?
Well, because the bar is hard it is not greasy and sticks (adheres?) to the skin much better than other flapper treatments I have tried, which were all more Neosporin-like in consistency, once applied. The lighter consistency would eventually result in me smearing grease all over my shirt and jeans.
One application of the Climb On! classic bar is pretty tough – in a good sense – because it will stay on even if you get your hands a little wet, and offers some protection from the “sting” soap and water provide when the rips are at their freshest.
I have also been making use of the Climb On! bar for dry, cracked skin this winter. Sometimes my fingers want to come apart at the seams and develop these heinous deep cuts when the air dries out. However, Climb On! has prevented me from having ANY of those issues all winter long.
Obviously I am a HUGE fan of the Climb On! classic bar, and for those of you looking to try it out, make sure you order with the “ChicksClimbing” code at checkout to get your discount!
