We’re not that far away from villagers with torches and pitchforks if you consider some of the activists in the conservative tea party, the pro-lifers and the Bigfoot community these days.
In fact, this theme was popular in old monster movies likes like Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and Phantom of the Opera, it later evolved into the 1950s SciFi movies with the military greeting the aliens.
