(Before It's News)
On July 9, 1886 the Omaha Daily Bee reported that a gang of body snatchers were chased from the Hastings Cemetery on a Wednesday night. They were nimble limbed fellows and shot over headstones and fences at a two-minute gait.
The body snatching trouble was not an isolated case. The old Fremont Cemetery, also known as the Ridge Cemetery, established about 1870, was located on Linden Avenue and Ridge Road in Fremont, Nebraska. It too, was the final resting place for many of Nebraska’s early settlers. The Ridge Cemetery Association has improved landscape, paved streets, erected a monument in Potter’s Field, and installed a new arched gate.
