Just about everyone of has seen the movie The Legend of Boggy Creek in our yonder years. Lyle Blackburn breathes fire back into the legend like a rip, roaring paranormal dragon of doom and glee. His new book 'The Beast of Boggy Creek: The True Story of the Fouke Monster" is becoming a cult classic. Creating buzz all over the paranormal and Crypto scenes from here to the backwoods of your own backyards. This is my first time interviewing Lyle and he also will be appearing on The Church of Mabus radio show on July 14th at 11pm eastern. With great hairy beastily pleasure I present to you Lyle Blackburn's interview.
1. What exactly transpired to get you so interested in strange creatures aka real-life monsters? Was it since childhood or did something happen that sparked it?
I think it was something I was born with. Ever since I can remember I was attracted to monster movies on television and would always seek out whatever books, monster models, and toys I could convince my parents to buy for me. As such, I remember seeing a Scholastic Reader book that I could order through elementary school back when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. It was called "Strange But True" and had drawings of bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and other cryptids on the cover. I don't think I had ever heard of bigfoot before then, but the monsters sounded so cool I had to have that book. I read it cover to cover many times and loved it. Later, as I started seeing stuff like the Patterson-Gimlin film on tv I was totally hooked.
