The Creature From The Black Lagoon: A Classic
This 1954 movie is an absolute classic with lots of atmospheric music, exotic setting, beauty and the beast theme, and enough creepiness to give you tingles. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen this movie based on an expedition to find a prehistoric creature, it’s still a favorite to play on a rainy Sunday, under the safety of a blanket and lots of popcorn.
The gill man, a devonian amphibian, steals the attention in this movie, was an amazing feat for that time period to do underwater filming as extensively as this one did with costume. Air was fed into the airtight suit for underwater filming and painted bright yellow so it would show up on black and white filming in the Florida water.
