(Before It's News)

Thousands of huge ancient structures made of stone are clearly visible from the air.

Their age is estimated to thousands of years and their purpose remains unknown.

These puzzling wheel-shapes, and straight lines, stretch all the way from Syria to Saudi Arabia.

Some call this area the Middle East's own version of the Nazca Lines.

It is only recently, with help of satellite images that archaeologists have been able to explore this region in more detail…. Rest of article with all images here:

  • I suppose that mostly those structures are enclosures for keeping cattle, goats and sheep in ancient times when those lands were more humid and could sustain more life and population, or traps for animals to be hunted or maybe for warriors to be defeated. Certain formations may be ancient fortifications or temporary ramparts against enemies. Long straight lines were necessary for the chiefs to see what was going on at the front and to lead a battle.

Great armies and numerous raider groups have marched and roamed back and forth in the course of millenia in the Middle East. The Bible also tells about such things.

It is not impossible to create large figures on the terrain using simple measuring and lining means and a plan drawn on a sheet of leather or clay table. I can understand that because I am an old land surveyor. It depends on the planner or someone who has given the orders to build large structures, if the figure on the terrain may resemble an acquainted object, e.g. a giant bird. No “aliens” are needed, only imagination and a lot of work. The small structures can have planned in the heads of the builders without any drawings.
