Medicineman Rolling Thunder’s Ability To Summon Thunder Clouds & His Legacy
Could you share some of his personal teachings with us from the book that are some of your favorite quotes and information?
SMSJ: Honestly I enjoyed his more cantankerous side. I also like dogs that growl and snarl, so I guess I’m kind of funny like that. Anyway my favorite story about RT in this book is when he was not happy with a reporter who had written up RT as a charlatan. RT felt it was very disrespectful and to show that he was indeed the real thing, he told the reporter “Before you leave here on your plane, I’m going to make the thunder roll.”, and a massive thunder storm rolled in. Can you imagine being that reporter about to board your plane in this situation? I hope he brought a change of underwear.
I know Sidian Morning Star Jones is the grandson of Rolling Thunder. What could you tell us about Rolling Thunder’s life and spiritual perspective?
SMSJ: Rolling Thunder was very accepting of many ways of life. Today you still see a lot of homophobia and racism in the United States, but you wouldn’t see that on his land – he’d kick you right out. He also did not refer to himself as a shaman, but he did believe the kind of practice he was involved in takes most people at least 40 years to even begin seeing results.
