This is a curse. Selfishness. Don’t think it’s anything other than a curse. It comes on simple and straight forwards. It’s through selfishness and pride. It began thousands of years ago, by the father of lies. Satan.
If you don’t believe in Satan then please be advised that this is a covering to hide the truth from you. The biggest lie ever told is that Satan does not exist. Oh, yes they come up with some pretty good schemes which convince themselves there is no Satan, and then they project these ‘fears’ onto others. Yes, I said fear because Satan is the father of fear and lies.
