In the aftermath of Earth’s close call today, NASA officially came forward to say that the meteorite that exploded in and hit the Ural Mountains of Russia yesterday, the two bolides that exploded over Cuba and were seen in Puerto Rico and the fireball seen over Japan were not connected to Asteroid 2012 DA-14.
Standing firmly on American soil from a centrally heated office far away from any of the events, once again NASA has become the authority of all things apocalyptic and challenges those who question and marginalizes them, because of their fears of a possible near earth collision with celestial bodies that once again creep in unnoticed.
The truth about near earth objects has always been that while NASA has cataloged most of the potential threats to the planet, they are in no capacity to catalog potentially hazardous asteroids that are smaller than the one that passed over the earth today.
As we have realized by what happened with the Russian incident, there are as of yet space rocks that go unchecked that could do significant damage if they impact or explode above the Earth’s surface near populated areas.
It is a fact that over 300 objects intersect Earth’s orbital trajectory each year. They range in size from a soccer ball to the size of Manhattan. It is only a matter of time before we arrive at the wrong place at the wrong time.
In 2005, Ground Zero reported that Congress ordered NASA to “Plan and Implement” a Near Earth Object survey program that would attempt to track and catalog potentially hazardous objects that are under 450 feet in diameter.
NASA’s response has simply been keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that nothing gets through. It seems that the mathletes that run NASA can show us that they can use high math to ensure the public that by their calculations that asteroids like DA-14 can pass us within a cosmic shave without any incident.
Now keep in mind that astronomers consider 2.4 million miles to be a “near-miss” for any near earth object. We just had an Asteroid pass us within 17,000 miles.
We had commented on the Ground Zero show that something that close had to have stragglers following it or other rocks being moved out of the way to allow it to pass, and many of those rocks head toward earth.
Again NASA says that none of the reported fireballs seen before the Near Earth pass including the one that hit Russia were not connected. NASA spins the homogenized narrative and yet we see something different happening.
NASA is good at one thing, and that is filtering the carnival of theories about what or what isn’t happening in the apocalypse which sends me into angry fist pounding because everyone seems to want to be the first to report the doomsday event and theory. Most of us were duped into the extinction level perception of Comet Elenin. While it was out there and it was heading our way, something got in the way and gave it a good push into another anomaly causing it to break up.
I believe that NASA has a lot of the culpability as to the reason they are made in the first place. They have done nothing to engender trust and competence with the American people who of course create a hodgepodge of various fears and theories that when expressed often end up being sadistic sport for the likes of smug smarter-than-you geeks like Phil Plait.
That is why the unsung heroes in the reporting of such anomalies falls on the amateur astronomers that area lately the vanguard of earth notifying the corporate suits at NASA that they are doing the job better than they are and usually without the six figure incomes.
Ironically, in the big scheme of space rocks and skyfalls, Russia has expressed concerns about the larger threats to earth and has announced in the past that they were devising what has been deemed the Armageddon plan to try and steer potentially deadly asteroids away.
The head of the Russian space agency, Anatoly Perminov, said that Russia would prepare a mission to send a spacecraft to bump a large asteroid from a possible collision course with Earth.
Perminov said quote “People’s lives are at stake. We should pay several hundred million dollars and build a system that would allow us to prevent a collision, rather than sit and wait for it to happen and kill hundreds of thousands of people.”
The mission would be aimed at an asteroid called Apophis, which is expected to pass close to the Earth in 2029 and again in 2036. Apophis is known as the doomsday asteroid and has captured the imaginations of doomsayers for some time.
Statistically speaking, each of us is 1,000,000 times more likely to die from an asteroid than to win the lottery. But strangely enough you are more than likely to die from the effects of a direct asteroid hit than a terrorist attack.
We always seem to think that asteroid direct hits are rare occurrences and that they only happen within ranges of billions of years. However, a large asteroid or comet, the kind that could kill a quarter of the world’s population, smashed into the Indian Ocean 4,800 years ago, producing a tsunami at least 600 feet high, about 13 times as big as the one that inundated Indonesia in 2004.
There is also the reality of “sweeper effect” and I theorize that what happened in Russia was the result of the sweeper effects of 2012 D-14.
Sweeper effects have been known to push space debris into earth’s atmosphere. There can be 300 to 400 pound pieces of space junk and rock that if they move fast enough can create several high level dangers forcing areas to go on alert. While there has not been a kiloton level event reported with space junk, the Russian skyfall of February 14th, 2013 could have been a sweeper event that created an explosion equivalent to a 300-500 kiloton nuclear bomb.
At first, the Russian Academy of Science estimated the object’s mass at about 10 metric tons. With more data in hand, researchers now say the object had a mass of 7,000 metric tons a diameter of about 50 feet.
The asteroid’s breakup at an altitude some 12 to 15 miles above Russia’s Chelyabinsk region represents the largest recorded asteroid encounter since 1908, when another asteroid or comet exploded over the Tunguska River in Siberia, leveling some 820 square miles of forest.
The shock waves from what appear to have been multiple blasts, perhaps triggered as large initial fragments underwent their own disruption, broke windows in the three major cities in the region, including Chelyabinsk. It was reported that over a thousand people were injured, although most of the injuries were minor, according to reports from the area.
All last year there were reports of UFO’s and fireballs. In fact, 2012 was a record year for fireball and UFO reports and NASA, of course, blamed it on 2012 hysteria and emphasized that there was no major threats from near earth objects or aliens.
Space anomalies have always plagued us, and apparently from the point of paranoia we are to assume that these space anomalies are signs in the heavens signifying major changes in the world. Whether you take prophecy as fact and, depending on which oracles you use, circumstantial evidence suggests that we will not escape these cosmic triggers.
In the New Testament, the book of Revelation speaks of Wormwood, a star falling from heaven which gives us several years of bitterness. There have been many listeners to my program that are concerned that perhaps Comet ISON that we are going to see later this year is the prophesied Wormwood. Comets and Meteors do seem to be harbingers of death and the last time we saw the evidence of this was 1997 and the appearance of Comet Hale-Bopp. That comet appeared after a major UFO sighting in Arizona which was followed by a massive cult suicide, the death of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa.
The obvious observation that can be made is that the planet earth is like an ocean liner that travels in a very turbulent ocean called space. Everyone knows that the oceans on earth can be turbulent. Just think of it on a larger scale.
Now is the time to prepare yourself for cosmic responsibility. The religious are saying that these signs are trying to tell us something. Scientists keep making excuses and literally giving us facts and figures to consider as people clean up and rebuilt from the sky fall.
I say that perhaps we need to search our feelings about what we have all experienced after the near hit of Asteroid 2012–D14. Observe the way we behave when we see anomalies in the sky. Now understand how these events cut to the core of what we truly believe.
Whether you want to believe that these events are either acts of God, messages from aliens or fulfilled prophecy is your decision.
One thing is for sure, when mankind is subject to the elements of his nature, it does not matter how much money or what toys he has. He can be wiped out in seconds and then all men are equal as we all become burning charcoal in the end and the scorched earth policy guarantees an apocalypse that goes out with a boom and suffocating heat.
