‘Sorceress’ Burned Alive In Papua New Guinea

The woman, named by The National newspaper as Kepari Leniata, 20, was reportedly tortured with a branding iron and tied up, splashed with fuel and set alight on a pile of rubbish topped with car tyres.
According to the rival Post-Courier newspaper she was torched by villagers who claimed she killed a six-year-old boy through sorcery, with police outnumbered by onlookers and unable to intervene.
A fire truck that responded to the incident, which took place on Wednesday morning in Mount Hagen city in the Western Highlands, was also chased away.
The ‘Burning Times’ is what modern pagans call the time in history when pagans were all but wiped out in a religious genocide. Christians are usually blamedbut it happenedwith others as well. Well, the burning times continues to this day. Woman and children, even men, are still accused of witchcraft and burned, hanged and jailed for it whether they actually are a witch or not. These usually takes place in places like Africa and India but does occur in other places. Ignorance is still the main factor in these tragedies. -Mort
