If the son sets you free you are free indeed!
A few weeks ago I was awakened at midnight and for the next three hours the Holy Spirit led me through a cathartic inventory. I was amazed at the scenes that popped into my mind. Memories from early childhood, boyhood and my teen age years all the way to the present.
One of the focuses was on words that people had spoken over me. I was taken aback by some of what the Holy Spirit was calling to my attention and I realized these people, whether intentionally or not, had cursed me in some particular way. One of the most glaring was when I was playing piano and an elderly women came alongside me and said, Is that all your going to do today? You’ll never amount to anything.
There were other scenes with similar words being spoken over me, as this went on for almost three hours. Now, we can go to shrinks and “discover” all of this and feel rejected, hurt, broken, and take some meds to make us feel better, or we can take all of this and lay at the cross. This is what I was led in, the Spirit of the Living God had me take each and every scene and lay it at the foot of the cross. Then forgiveness was added to the one who had hurt me as well as me saying, I am dead to you and you are dead to me. I was free from the past!
He wants to take each of us to this place of forgiveness and cleansing. We don’t have to carry the weight of the past around with us. We can be free. As the scripture tells us: If the son sets you free you are free indeed!
In closing todays Bun. My mentor Wayne Kendall used to say, human beings are garbage dumps. When he first said this I didn’t understand, but now I do. All of us have words spoken over us which are not only hurtful, but can set us on path that we will travel unwillingly for years. Today, ask Him to come in and take these ill spoken words. Let’s bring them to the cross and be done with them once and for all. We can be free with His help. This is one of the secrets of the early church. Therapy? We don’t need no stinking therapy! LOL!
