A Raelian-founded women’s rights group plans to hold topless demonstrations this weekend and hopes two federal party leaders will support its cause.

The GoTopless organization, founded in the U.S. by the Raelian Movement, has asked Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau and NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair to support the right of women to bare their breasts in public.

“We invite Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Mulcair to speak out on women’s right to be bare-breasted wherever men are given this right,” GoTopless spokeswoman Sylvie Chabot said in a press release Wednesday.

On Sunday, the organization will hold a topless rally in Montreal and a walk in Vancouver “so that never again will women be humiliated or prohibited from sunbathing topless wherever men can, or be reprimanded when breastfeeding in public,” Chabot said.

Going topless is legal in Ontario and B.C.

Raelism is a religious movement founded in 1974. Followers believe an extraterrestrial civilization called Elohim created mankind. The movement embraces nudity and freedom of expression.
