Indications suggest an Israeli soldier has been taken captive by Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, the IDF Spokesman said Friday at noon, hours after a 72-hour humanitarian cease-fire agreed upon by Israel and Hamas collapsed after holding for less than two hours.
The Headline above speaks volumes, as this is the way the game is played, at least by HAMAS. As it states, just 90 minutes into the ceasefire HAMAS detonates a suicide bomb and kidnapped an IDF soldier. HAMAS is, in short, a truce breaker. They can not ever be trusted. They have only one goal and it is the destruction of every Israeli…. period. The homicide bomber blew himself up in the name of Allah….crazy.
Added to this is the vitriolic statements by Iran’s president Rouhani, who is showing his true colors by calling Israel a festering tumor. Israeli president Bejamin Netanyahu has poignantly stated: Israel lives in a rough neighborhood. He knows what Israel is dealing with. Rouhani has only one goal and in keeping with his quote above, the tumor must be removed!
I landed in Los Angeles yesterday, from flying standby and changing planes in St. Paul, and then again in Salt Lake City, before arriving in LA. It was an exhausting trip and added to it was word that my cousin had passed away only a few hours earlier… tragic.
As I made my way toward baggage claim I was separated from the TSA check-point by a wall of glass. This is now common in most airports. I looked at the people lined up with their shoes off, waiting to be screened and as I did so my eyes rested on a Rabbi. He was on the other side of the screening and had just placed his large hat on his head. Our eyes met and I gave him a thumbs up. He looked at me inquisitively and I reinforced my gesture. Then he got it and his face broke out in a warm grin. I got chills…. My thumbs up was a way of showing him my support of Israel and the Jewish people.
When waiting for a plane in St. Paul, there was a young muslim couple. The wife was dressed in a full Burqa, with only her eyes showing. I’ve known what a Burqa looks like but I’ve never actually seen one worn by a woman before. She looked like a phantom, with only her dark eyes peering out from behind her black veil, which hid her face. She walked behind her husband as they boarded the plane. It was a very foreign site to me and I was unsettled by it. Then in Salt Lake there were two other Muslim women wearing veils. In all fairness the Amish have a peculiar way of dressing too, as the women wear long dresses or skirts and usually have their hair in a netted bun on top of their heads. Orthodox Jewish women, dress very modestly, but the women in the Burqa disturbed me. 20 years ago a sight like the one I was seeing would have been a rarity, now it seems to be common place. None of the other passengers waiting to board the plane seemed to notice the woman or were concerned by her.
So the question I have is this. We know radical Islam wants the destruction of the state of Israel and refers to Jews as pigs and apes. We also know that the hatred between Sunni moslem and Shia muslim is ongoing. The spectra of radical Islam working it’s way into the USA and in my mind the Burqa clad women represented what is in reality a clash of civilizations.
I’ve been told their are moderate Moslems who decry this violence, but they seem strangely silent, perhaps because they know if they speak out they too will be killed?
Yet there is hope. When Messiah returns every eye will see Him and Moslems all over the world will see Him too. This is the game changer and the hope I have. When Muslims have an encounter with Yashua, their lives are transformed. I know because I’ve seen this for myself.
