Demon turns into smoke and then vanishes. Antony of Egypt decided to fast and pray for few days. He was living in the desert. As the fasting progressed a monk showed up with few loaves of bread and began to advise Antony that he was only a mere man like him and fasting is not good for him because it could make his body weaker. Antony realized the cunningness of his uninvited guest and rose on his feet to pray. As soon as he began to pray the demon that came in the form of a monk turned into smoke and then vanished. Before and after this incident Antony had similar experiences. The demons would make apparitions either to scare him or to distract him from the hard labor of prayer. Antony would drive them away uttering the Name of Lord Jesus Christ or by reciting the Scripture verses or by prayer. Most of the times, these demons would melt away and vanish.
Lord Jesus sent out his disciples with instructions to heal the sick and to cast out evil spirit and to raise the dead and all that. When they returned, they reported to him that even demons were subjected to them in his Name. During his ministry Lord Jesus himself set free many that were oppressed by the devil.
