It said that “two soldiers of the caliphate” carried out the attack at a conference centre near Dallas.
The IS’s al-Bayan Radio news bulletin said that the exhibition “was portraying negative pictures of the Prophet Muhammad”.
Both suspects were shot dead after opening fire at the centre on Sunday.
Correspondents say that it is believed to be the first time that IS has claimed to have carried out an attack in the US.

Yesterday two jihadist’s were shot dead as they attempted to kill as many people as possible in the controversial Mohammed Cartoon drawing contest.
First off. The organizers of this so-called contest know full well that they are engaged in baiting Moslems to come and defend their prophet. This is, in some ways analogous to Christians reacting to the blasphemous so-called art work named, Piss-Christ, which is a photo of a crucifix submerged in the artists urine. This photo really ticks me off and I am deeply offended by it and have commented on it before on this Blog.

However, I’m not going off on a Jihad, grabbing my twelve gauge, and heading to the art museum to shoot this knuckle-head who is looking for a reaction. The guy needs prayer. Is this what turning the other cheek is about?
This cartoon contest, held in Texas, where the contestants were to draw the prophet Mohammed, was in response to the Charlie Hebdrow fiasco, in France that left 12 dead, as the crazed gunmen—jihadist’s—shouted the usual, Allah Akbar as they massacred unarmed people.
Did they bait Moslems by holding this contest and describing it as an exercise in free speech? As I pointed out above, with the reference to the Piss-Christ photo; just as this photo is insulting to me as a Christian, the Mohammed cartoon contest would be deeply insulting to Moslems who are forbidden to represent Mohammed in any type of art-work, by just such a contest.
However, the response of the Jihadist’s, was over the top crazy and that’s where we have a problem much greater than the media is letting on too.
How many radical Moslems are already living in the USA? How many will resort to violence when pushed? How many are all to willing to die for Allah? How many Major Hassan’s—The Fort Hood Shooter—are living amongst us?
The take-away for me is this. There is a cultural disparity between Moslems and other Americans. Most Moslems are law biding people, however, there are those in the Moslem community that despise our way of life, our freedoms, our liberty, our sense of humor, our cultural expression, and in essence everything about us.
Every Friday in Iran, thousands gather and chant, Death to America! Death to Israel! So much for, can’t we all just get along…
In closing todays post. Radical Islam is residing in our country. The two men who were shot in Texas were willing to die as martyrs for Allah. How many more of these guys are here? How will we know who to trust? We should ban immigration of people from countries that harbor terrorists. However, the dummies in control immigration in Washington, don’t have the backbone or gumption to do so. At some point Americans are going to say enough. Look what is happening in the UK and we can get a feel of what is coming here….the Islamization of America.
