In California we have to worry about drug cartels and their marijuana plantations when we’re out Bigfooting. Texans have the same problem it seems. This story is from the Chron:

DELTA COUNTY, Texas – Texas Game Wardens and local law enforcement busted a $6.5 million marijuana growing operation in Delta County, northeast of Dallas, this weekend.

According to KETR Public Radio, Delta County deputies and game wardens recovered approximately 6,550 marijuana plants – some as tall as 10 feet – from a one-acre section of a wildlife management area on Saturday.

Authorities were alerted to the site near the Sulphur River after hog hunters spotted the growers’ campsite. An overnight hunt by game wardens for suspects was hampered by bigfoot hunters hoping to find the elusive Sasquatch, KETR reports.

Hunters stumbling upon marijuana farms is uncommon, but not unheard of in Texas. In July 2014, a deer hunter stumbled upon more than 40,000 plants in Goodrich, about 70 miles north of Houston.
