We’ve always been fascinated by the Albert Ostman story, but this is the first time that we’ve heard anything about it being a hoax. Greg W. sent us a message asking for any references to the so-called hoax, but like Greg, nothing turned up in our archives. According to our recent poll, 82 percent of our readers believe Albert’s story about being kidnapped by a family of Bigfoots.

Here’s what Greg wrote:

How do Squatchers, I seem to recall reading somewhere that Albert Ostman before he died recanted his “kidnapping” story, admitting he made the story up influenced by tales told by native americans of the area. Ive since tried to find this again but cannot find any admission by Ostman of a hoax, has anyone else read such an article? any info or links would be gratefully recieved to put me out of my misery

thanks
