Question: Tell us something personal about yourself. Your family life. Recreational activities, hobbies? TV shows you like, movies you like and books you like?

Answer: I have an older sister, we don’t keep in touch, but we get along. I am close with my mom and dad. I came to Sacramento to be close with my dad who has leukemia. I love hiking, extreme sports and fitness. The TV. shows I like is “The Walking Dead,” “The Haunted.” I love horror and action movies,.I like suspenseful war related books.

Question: Kevin, when you were 6, you had a paranormal experience. Can you tell me what happened and also give me a list of the most significant paranormal experiences that you had.

Answer: When I was six. Me my sister and a babysitter were in our house and we were in separate rooms divided by the same wall. We heard scratching on the walls like an animal. Then we heard tapping. The babysitter looked in the closet and there was nothing there. We were trying to be logical about the situation and we thought that it could be mice.

My family and I had a dog that we had to put down. While it was alive, it stayed right by the outside of my bedroom window. Then after it passed I heard growling in the same spot but eerie not like my dog.

Question: You were a Marine in the Iraq War and had a paranormal experience over there, please explain in detail.

Answer: There was several weird experiences that I had. One time, we got dispatched to a ruined town that had been bombed. It was just rubble. It was out in the middle of nowhere. We were searching the area and we found an underground staircase at least 500 feet and it was covered with dirt. So, since it was hidden we had to go check it out to make sure there were no weapons inside. There were two teams of four. We went down the stairs and saw a big iron gate.

A lot of rubble had fallen down the steps so it was tricky to get down there. The gate just opened up to a massive bunker the farther we went. There was none down there and we found weird devices like torture devices. We found a room that was covered in something like ash. There were handprints on burnt places in the wall. I heard something from a ventilation shaft at the top of the room that I had to climb into. There was nothing there, so we left. We came back later that night. A few people were complaining and saying they felt very sick and they did get very sick. They also said that they were hearing things. No one thought too much about it.

Another time, we went to an old air station and there was a hospital there. It was huge with like six stories made of clay walls but not modern. It was so badly bombed and the staircases were collapsed in so we couldn’t explore too much. We heard talking and screams at night and we did not know where the noises were coming from.

The most significant was what happened at the H1 Airfield. The Iraqi people usually looted areas like this that were abandoned but they had not looted this place. They would not step foot in this place. Nowhere had I ever seen that ! There was an old prison that had been bombed. The story behind it was that Saddam would take his prisoners there and it was connected to a factory where he would have them work and then kill them and bury them there. My commander told me this.

Where we were staying was a big compound. We were staying in an outer building that was intact. Surrounding buildings were in rubble. The factory connected was still in good shape with metal walls and five stories. It was cheaply built, but a nice building. There were buildings on the outer perimeter. There were snipers on the roof. It was my turn to go on the roof. We were using our night vision goggles. I kept seeing a light flicker on the top of the building. When we took the goggles off we couldn’t see anything with our naked eye. We told our commander and he told us to check it out.

So, we went to the third floor. It was creepy. I got a eerie vibe the second I walked into the building. There were only four of us going up. We had our weapons. As soon as we got inside the building the weather outside picked up and stirred up dust to make us cough. So, we shut these huge warehouse doors behind us. We headed upwards and we heard a sound like metal scraping on metal. The noise wasn’t consistent. We had to keep ascending. We made our way through the floors and nothing was there until the third floor.

We reported back to our commander .We were having problems with reception when we were there. We told our commander we were hearing noises but we couldn’t find footprints or signs of life. So, we saw on the third floor that there was nothing there. As we ascended to the fourth floor all the sound stopped. We could never find anyone.
So, on the first floor there was a prison. It was connected to the building. So, a lot of it was ruined. As we walked through a team member was pointing his lights in a certain direction and said that he saw a little boy crouched in the corner. I didn’t see that. Also, I wanted to believe him I wanted to be logical so I didn’t tell my commander about the ghosts.

We set up trip flares around the perimeter. The flares would always go off if something passed through the perimeter. They were always going off when no one was there.
Over by the main gate we would hear a scream every night and radio it in. There were these animals like desert foxes or something we thought maybe they were making the noise. But, it was only in that one location. So, it didn’t really make sense that it would happen in the one direction only.

Other people would also say that they would hear a woman scream and cry in an entrance to a shack turned to rubble. We would investigate and never found anything.
We had to move our post eventually from the area.

At Al Asad , an air base in Iraq, one of Saddam’s airbases from the golf war. There were crashed airplanes and debris around the site. The buildings in the area were ruined but some had been restored. They dispatched people to Iraq from there. It was a huge base. It was approximately ten miles by ten miles. There was a band of bunkers. On this base everything is secure. You can wear comfortable, relaxed clothes. We were on R and R when we there. We can just relax there. I got to explore this area and never experienced anything.

Question: What was your job classification in the Marines?

Answer: 0311 Infantry 0313 LAV (
Light Armour Vehicle Crewman)
I was certified to drive the tanks. They were the only tanks with wheels instead of tracks. They were intense and fast. I got to shoot the vehicles and drive them. My weapon was a M249 SAW Squad Automatic Weapon. I used to shoot up to 850 rounds per minute. Interchangeable barrel. I won;t lie, shooting this gun was awesome.

Question: How long did you serve in the Marines, from what year to what year?

Answer: I served for four years. 2006-2010.

Question: Tell us about your day-to-day experiences in the Iraq War.

Answer: There was never a day to day routine. It depended on our mission. For example on the Hi airbase we would do sweeps, clear buildings and patrol the perimeter. We would take turns on watch.

When we were at South Sal Sinjar, we used to spend 13 hours a day or more driving. It was offroading in our vehicles. We were looking for weapon caches. One time, we were doing a massive Traffic Checkpoint Sweep and we were out for days on like one hour of sleep because there was so much going on. The lack of sleep was what was the hardest. They would give us tobacco to keep us awake.

Question: Why do you want to be an HPI paranormal investigator?

Answer: I am intrigued by the paranormal world. I really like to help people. I am very compassionate. It sounds very fun.

Question: I ask this question to all of my interviewees. What are your religious beliefs?

Answer: I was raised a Christian Baptist. I never really took to it. I believe in God, a higher power. I definitely feel like there is a lot of good that comes out of the bible. I don’t believe everything in it though. I think that God is exploited in most religions.

Question: How can people contact you?

Answer: E-mail [email protected]

Question: Now to the fun questions. If you had 6 dinner guests, 3 fictional and 3 historical, who would they be?

Answer: The Dali lama . Charles Manson. General Stalin.
Rick from the Walking Dead. Archer. Medusa.

Question: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 things would you bring and why?

Answer: I would bring a flint starter kit. I would bring a thick stainless steel hunting knife. Is there water on it? Assuming the island has coconuts and a lake the last thing would be… a fishing pole.

Question: Do you have any words of wisdom for your readers?

Answer: Live everyday to the fullest. Life is to short to waste in misery.
