Now I’ve seen everything.
For anybody who thought that the Obama phone or giving out food stamps to 50 million Americans was ridiculous, the Turkish government is taking campaign promises to a whole new level.
“Once you have a job, salary and food. What is left? A wife.” Turkish Prime Minister told voters this past week, as he proposed government assistance for single Turkish men in need of spouses.
I wish I could say this was a joke, but I can’t.
This is yet another example of the lengths politicians will go to get elected or stay in office.
Politicians always make bold promises before they come to power and they keep very few of them once they’ve got it.
The thing is—people believe them. They fall for the same tricks over, and over, and over again.
Every single election cycle no matter how much the last person lied to them and reneged on their promises, for some crazy reason people still believe the bold-faced lies of the next person.
If you’re wondering why nothing ever changes, this is why.
It’s a modern day version of Roman bread and circuses, and it’s not really a whole lot different from the slew of generous handouts given by most governments today.
None of which they can afford.
The only way to stop this cycle is to stop buying this BS and to start become more self-reliant.
The more you rely on government, the more power they have over you.
But if you make sure that you don’t depend on government to put food on the table, you’re light years ahead in terms of achieving freedom and independence.
That’s the way to achieve real power.
