Photographs ©Amani Willett – From ‘Disquiet’
Amani Willett’s monograph “Disquiet” has just been published by Damiani. He was recently featured in the books Street Photography Now and New York: In Color and is a long-term member of the iN-PUBLiC collective of photographers. His pictures have been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and his work has been featured in such publications as American Photography, Newsweek and The New York Times. He holds an MFA from the School of Visual Art and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
I interviewed and featured Amani’s ‘Disquiet’ in Issue 5. The book was just released by Damiani and looks fantastic. I sat down with him last week in Prospect Park to talk about the book, editing, shooting street and his future projects, including ‘The Disappearance of Joseph Plummer’ which looks very interesting. Be sure to spend some time on his website. It’s very nicely done.
You can purchase Disquiet HERE.
(Note: This was the second time I attempted to record an interview outdoors. The first attempt didn’t go so well (Sorry Amy Lombard!) I think I’m ok with some ambient noise and sort of enjoy the “being in public” aspect to doing interviews but ultimately it might just be too distracting. All feedback welcome!)
