Baltimore Police Acknowledge Mistakes In Freddie Gray’s Death.  The department is investigating whether Gray’s injuries resulted from his arrest or a “rough ride” — in which police vans are driven erratically to harm unbuckled, handcuffed detainees.

 

Freddy Gray and the Legacy of Slavery in Baltimore Policing. Historian Gerald Horne says the police culture that allows violence with impunity grew out of the slave patrols, which like today, used force to defend the economic order.

 

Private Prison Sued For Putting Hunger Striking Moms In Solitary. The lawsuit seeks to prohibit ICE and GEO from putting women and their children in isolation as punishment for protesting, and from threatening to separate mothers from their children.
