Cops that can’t Shoot Straight and Perps that don’t lie Down!

The gang that couldn’t shoot straight. And the criminals that don’t know when to stop running. We have heard a lot about all those racist cops shooting those unarmed black criminals, but you don’t hear much about their shooting prowess. I had a patient in a while back and he claimed he went to the shooting gallery(range) and the police can’t shoot too well. And we are spoiled. When we watch Roy Rogers, Clint Eastwood or Ranger Walker they usually don’t miss. And if they have time, they can actually shoot the weapon out of the hand of the gunman. Hell Clint Eastwood could take down 5 guys with 5 shots or less. But the Ok Corral as depicted, seemed like they were shooting and no one was going down.
So the first solution would be to teach the police how to shoot straight. And by the time they pull out their weapon their adrenaline is probably going through the roof. And some of the blame needs to go on the criminal. If you are not going to out run the bullet, then you better lie down and hope for the best.
Let’s focus a bit on the South Carolina shooting. And it is terrible that someone died. And 100% more white men die at the hands of a policeman as do black men. In other words for every black man that dies, there are 2 white men that die! And to call it racism is really unfair. I think the notion that blacks are not equal to whites, and so on and so forth went out in the 1860′s. Now that doesn’t mean people are not jealous of preferential treatment offered to Blacks. But that is natural. If someone takes your job away or your money in the vehicle of welfare and the like, they are jealous. Income redistribution always has a downside. It is not the rich that are hurt by paying for the handouts, it is the middle class. For the rich it is an inconvenience. For the middle class it is punishment.
But the good news is that handouts go more to whites than blacks. But the blacks are different and stand out more. But we all know that blacks are exactly like the whites. And there is no evidence that a policeman white or black would shoot an unarmed or armed man just because of the color of their skin. But Al Sharpton and other racists like Obama would beg to differ.
So back to Slager in South Carolina. The family will win about 5 million dollars. Won’t bring the black man back, but it will make one lawyer real happy. And the taxpayer will get stuck paying the bill. And maybe finally Scott will be caught up on child support.
We have discussed before that it takes maybe 2 seconds to fire 8 shots. So if you have 3 policeman firing at the same time that is about 24 shots in 2 seconds. Hell if the perp is dead the bullets will probably keep him up for a second or so.
In the Slager case he fired 8 bullets. He wasn’t too far away. And he missed 2 times. Hit his ear once. 3 times in the back and one in the upper buttocks. Now on TV, 8 bullets would be dead center in a circle of about an inch or 2. Only one bullet hit the heart. That was probably the kill shot and the victim was probably dead before he hit the ground. And you can see in the video even after 8 shots, it still took a while for the victim to hit the ground.
What if Slager could aim the gun. And he had a legal reason to stop the perp. Wouldn’t he be better off to shoot the guy in the leg. He would be if he knew how to shoot the gun. But since he didn’t hit this guy 8 times, he was a lousy shot. Plus shooting 8 shots that quickly, he probably never aimed the gun after each bullet was fired.
So the fault really lies in the training. Slager should argue that he was just trying to stop the perp and he missed. I for one would believe him. Slager was a lousy shot.
But let’s turn the table around. Scott was driving in a Mercedes and wasn’t paying child support. So what is wrong with that picture. They actually had some jerks trying to argue that people shouldn’t go to jail for not paying child support. Maybe the mothers should be locked up for picking losers. Now that would be fumy. But there doesn’t seem to be any requirement to take pride in who you want to be the daddy. They also lock parents up for not sending their precious children to school. Why not just take the children away!
I disagree with O’Reilly. If there is one lousy tail light out, the policeman has nothing better to do then to pull this guy over. If he didn’t pull this loser over, he would still have his job today and he would be a free man.
The other part of the story is running away from a policeman is resisting arrest. We don’t know that in this case, but no one should be allowed to run away from a policeman or harm him or her in anyway. Maybe it would be better if policeman were allowed to shoot runners. A lot of things can go wrong when a policeman has to run after a perp. The policeman is at a disadvantage because they are weighed down with all that stuff. So if it is legal to shoot the perp in the leg when they are running away, my guess is that perps will stop running and resisting arrest. No policeman goes to work in the morning and dreams about shooting an unarmed person. And all police dream that they will return home safe and sound at the end of the work day.
Over the years the liberals have tried to tie the hands of the police and the military. But the liberals don’t spend time with the loons on the street. It would be great if we could lock up the liberals and the liberal judges and the loons on Alcatraz for 2 weeks. Betcha the bleeding heart liberals if still alive will have a different outlook.
I am sure there are bad cops out there. Maybe one or two. But they are the first line of defense against the loons out there. The policeperson that might be there one day to protect me, I want him or her to have both hands free. I want that perp to go down like a ton of bricks and we can sort it out later.
In the Slager case we don’t know what happened between videos. And I wish Scott was still alive today. But it is not going to happen. For Slager there is no mens rea. He didn’t plan to kill Scott, in the heat of the moment probably by mistake he fired the fatal shot.
So we need to persuade by law to prevent perps from resisting arrest and or running from the police. If they do they can be shot and it should be deemed justified.
The police need to only give weapons to the officers that can hit a moving target with some degree of accuracy. If they can’t acquire that skill then do not issue them a gun! There is a place called the bow and arrow squad for those blokes. In the old days, the police very rarely fired a gun. Today, it is a common occurrence. Maybe it is time to make the laws more favorable to the police.
Instead of running, the perp should just get down. Maybe that’s something they should practice in school, instead of hiding under a desk during a nuclear attack. Maybe they should practice that on MSNBC. Don’t run. Don’t make any quick motions like reaching for that cell phone or toy gun. The police are not mind readers. They don’t know what you are doing. They are just as scared as you are, until they hook you up.
So shut up and pay attention. We can sort it out later.
