Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement has issued a statement, confirming that six of its fighters were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Syria’s Golan Heights.

The violence occurred after an Israeli helicopter fired two missiles at vehicles passing through Amal farms in the Syrian village of Qunaytirah near the Lebanese border. The statement identifies Jihad Imad Mughniyah, the son of a slain top commander as one of those killed in the attack. Also, Mohammed Issa, commander of the group’s operations in Syria was among the dead. According to the statement, the fighters were attacked while they were conducting a field reconnaissance mission in the area.
