We kick off the new 114th Congress with a weekly roundup of notable deletions archived by Politwoops, including a freshman learning House rules, a mayor backtracking on a big announcement and a congressman celebrating a bill’s passage when it actually didn’t pass.

Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Mich., who — just days after being sworn in — got a lesson in the House rules from a reporter after he shared two photos from inside the chamber. He tweeted the photo to the right with the message, “Honored to preside over House activity today in the Temple of Democracy.” That tweet was removed after 36 minutes along with a panoramic photo of the floor and message saying “House floor perspective.” Frank Throp, an NBC reporter, tweeted at him, “not a live shot.” Throp followed up with a link to a Roll Call article about how former Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, violated House rules when he tweeted a photo from the floor. Bishop deleted his tweets and said, “got it, thanks.”

The official account for Mayor Muriel Bowser, D-D.C., deleted a tweet this week saying flatly, “I’m gonna run again. #win4dc.” After 13 minutes that tweet disappeared and was replaced by a completely different accouncement saying, “I can’t make decisions worried about my next election. I’ve got to make decisions that I think are right. Thank you @WIN_DC!

Other notable deletions this week include Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Fla., who deleted two tweets about the passage of H.R. 37, a bill that did not pass, and Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., who deleted a tweet weighing in on the recent imbroglio of Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., speaking to a white supremacist group. The tweet from Johnson’s account said “He claims he ‘didn’t know’ who he was talking to!” and was deleted after just eight seconds.

Have a great weekend, and please help Politwoops out by letting us know if there are new accounts for us to follow. Thanks!
